Our story

Folkklubs ALA Pargrabs (in direct translation meaning: Folk-club Cave (Ala=cave) in the basement) is a unique place in Old Riga! The most authentic Latvian tavern with a modern twist. A place where you can experience culture, music, delicious food and enjoy conversations in good company. Latvian folk and world music, traditional and modern Latvian cuisine, Latvian dance evenings and Latvian and world folk music concerts meet here! A special atmosphere is created by being in historical premises - ancient wine cellars, where cozy conversations over a glass of beer and boisterous dances accompanied by music take place place between the old vaults.

ALA offers one of the widest ranges of local draft beer produced in Latvia - with us you can taste 30 + types of local beer on tap - from the traditional open-fermentation country style beers, to crisp Latvian lagers, porters and darks, to really crazy microbrewery IPA's, sours and many others! We also offer home-brewed traditional moonshine, aged on different berries and herbs (as well as our famous horseradish moonshine!), Latvia's best local fruit wines, our own craft cider Mūrbūdu, available in many different varieties (classic apple, oak barrel aged, aged with different berries and vintage ciders) and a very wide selection of organic teas, as well as seasonal monthly menus and offers from local produce and live music that plays at least five nights a week!
